Side FC OKC Cyclones Launch New Era of Women’s Soccer in Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City, OK — Side FC OKC Cyclones proudly enter their fourth year as Oklahoma City’s professional women’s soccer team, embodying the fierce, resilient spirit of the state. With roots that trace back to their inaugural season as OKC Oblivion and later Oklahoma Oblivion, the team now takes the field as the Side FC OKC Cyclones, competing in both the Major Arena Soccer League Women’s (MASLW) and the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
The Cyclones’ name is a powerful tribute to Oklahoma’s history. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Oklahomans often referred to the tornadoes that swept across the plains as “cyclones.” These storms, etched in the state’s past through events like the 1905 Snyder storm and the 1947 Woodward tornado, symbolize both nature’s raw force and the resilience of Oklahomans who rebuilt in their aftermath. By choosing “Cyclones,” the team honors this legacy, reflecting the strength, unity, and determination of women and communities across the state.
“Our journey mirrors the energy of Oklahoma’s storms,” said Nicci Miller, Ph.D., Chief Strategy and People Officer. “From our beginnings as Oblivion to today as the Cyclones, we’ve grown stronger each year, just like the communities we represent.”
Beyond the pitch, the Cyclones are deeply woven into the fabric of Oklahoma City. Players, coaches, and supporters are neighbors, friends, and families committed to uplifting their community through school visits, volunteer work, and partnerships with local organizations.
The Cyclones’ colors—navy, lavender, white, and silver—reflect the skies above the plains: powerful, vibrant, and ever-changing. Together, they embody the team’s mission to inspire young women, unite fans, and bring pride to Oklahoma City.
As the Side FC OKC Cyclones prepare for the 2025–26 season, fans can expect a team that plays with the intensity of a storm and the heart of Oklahoma.
